Kalpowar Crossing Campground

Last Updated on 6 May 2026 by Rob

Kalpowar Crossing in Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park is a great stop for those taking the alternative start to their Cape York adventure.

Situated in the heart of Queensland’s second-largest national park, this site sits right on the Normanby River, approximately 200 km north-west of Cooktown. It offers a rare blend of remote accessibility and essential facilities within a landscape of massive lily-fringed lagoons and ancient paperbarks.
