Campground Layout and Features

The campground has about five unmarked sites on a clay base. The campsites are along a loop track situated next to the creek.

This is nothing more than a piece of land upon which you can camp. No facilities are provided.

The area is very flat and is directly next to the road. However, there is very little traffic on the road so it creates no issues. We were not disturbed at night.

If the site is full, there is a nearby overflow area. This site is a good option if the nearby Long Waterhole site is too full.

Mistake Creek Campsite Location

Mistake Creek is 3km south of Winton along the Winton-Jundah Road. It is accessed by good-quality sealed roads. The map below shows the location of the campground. You can zoom out for a more general location.

What to Watch Out For at Mistake Creek Campground

During our stay, we did not encounter any issues.

This site would be best avoided in wet conditions.

There were lots of flies during our visit, so bring some repellent. This was true everywhere near Winton.

Final Words

We enjoyed our stay at this campground.

The site is an option for those following our Matilda Way itinerary.
