Last Updated on 5 September 2026 by Rob

Barn Hill Station offers rustic station stays, a short drive (129km) from Broome. It is a very short 4WD drive (or walk) to a pristine beach. Many sites offer beach views, particularly the unpowered sites.

Campground Layout and Features

The campground has 125 sites across a large area. The central area contains the powered sites. To the north, running parallel to the beach is the standard unpowered section. Dotted along the beach are unpowered ocean view sites. There are also a number of camping shelters.

Toilets and showers are available at this site, but don’t expect them to have roofs. Laundry is available for a fee of $6 per load. Rubbish disposal, water and a dump point are also available.

The site has a kiosk and cafΓ© selling homemade bread and cakes. Should you need it, they have swap-and-go gas.

A powered site here is $65 for two people (each extra adult $25 and child $5). Normal unpowered sites are $25 per person ($5 per child). The unpowered Ocean View Sites are the same price as the powered sites. Camping shelters are $80 for two people (each additional adult $25, each child $5). Rates are reduced during the off-season (from the 2nd of October to the 31st of March).

Barn Hill Station Location

The campground is a 129km drive south of Broome. The road is sealed to the turnoff before the nearly 10km unsealed access road. For our visit, the road was in good condition.

The map below shows the campground’s location. You can zoom out for a more general location.

What to Watch Out For at Barn Hill Station

We did not have any issues at this site. The only problem we had was that on the day we were supposed to arrive, a bushfire closed the road. Luckily, we decided to check their availability after we had half-packed to leave Broome.

Final Words

We enjoyed our three-night stay. The beach is beautiful, and the contrast with the red dirt is stunning.
