Murray Falls Campground

Last Updated on 7 September 2026 by Rob

Tucked away in the foothills of the Kirrama Range, just a short drive from Cardwell, Murray Falls Campground is one of North Queensland’s most spectacular and accessible waterfall camps. As part of the Girramay National Park, this site offers large, grassy bays that are perfect for a relaxing stay, providing a lush, tropical alternative to coastal van parks.

The highlight is, of course, the falls, a thundering curtain of water over ancient granite boulders—which you can hear from your campsite at night. Whether you’re there to tackle the climb to the lookout for a view over the Tully Valley or just want to cool off in the refreshing rock pools of the Murray River, this campground delivers a premium rainforest experience with the added bonus of well-maintained amenities and a genuinely peaceful atmosphere.

There is no need to be self-contained at this site.
