Campground Layout and Features

Balranald RV Camp could host 15 or more sites. However, the number of comfortable sites is limited by how people park. Most people will decide to park lengthways along the boundary, limiting others from benefiting from the grassed surrounds.

The campground is a car park in which you are allowed to camp. It is a square. On one side is the town swimming pool with a dump point on the opposite side. Camping on both these sides should be avoided. There are signs on the pool side stating that camping is not permitted. The far side of the area is bounded by a grassed area on which parking is not permitted. This side is the most popular. The opposite side can be used as well. The image below shows the areas.

The site has a toilet block. It is pretty old but clean and serviceable. There is a rubbish bin near the toilet.

As previously mentioned, the site contains a dump point. The water is non-potable.

The adjacent town swimming pool can be used for free when it is open.

Camping is permitted for up to 24 hours.

We didn’t notice any issues at this site.

To secure the more desirable sites, you will need to arrive early.

While we did not experience any problems, there are reports of local youths causing issues.

Final Words

This was an overnight stop for us. It is a good facility.

The town also permits camping in a car park at the rear of the information centre. We filled up on water at that site, and this one is the better of the two.

Closeby Campgrounds

If you are heading to the Murray River from here, you may like Wilkos Point Campground to the south and Sims Campground to the west.

For those heading to Hay, you may like to consider staying at Sandy Point Reserve.
